Northside squared off with the Evans Knights in a Round II matchup. The Eagles posted their second consecutive playoff shutout as they defeated Evans by a score of 26-0.

Evans forced the Eagles to punt on their first 2 possessions, but on their third drive on the night, the Eagles covered 37 yards in 5 plays highlighted by Tijuan Green’s 22 yard touchdown run. Devon Pike missed his first PAT of the year and the score stood at 6-0 with 2:14 left in the first quarter. After an Evans fumble, Green was in the endzone again when he scored from one yard out. Pike was good on this attempt and the Eagles led 13-0 with 10 seconds left in the first.

After a scoreless second quarter, the Eagles got cranked up again in the third. Northside blocked an Evans punt and took over at the Knight 13. The Evans defense stiffened and forced a field goal attempt. Devon Pike drilled the 23 yarder and the Eagles led 16-0 with 5:53 left in the third quarter. The Eagle defense continued its stellar play and forced another Evans punt. Northside took over on the Knight 41 late in third period, and they proceeded to go on a 6 play scoring drive that ended when Joe “Teebo” Scott rambled into the endzone from 3 yards out. Pike’s PAT was good and the Eagles led 23-0 with 11:55 left in the game. Northside ended the scoring at the 3:14 mark of the final period with Pike was perfect on a 29 yard field goal attempt.

The Eagle defense held the explosive Knight passing attack to only 10 completions in 32 attempts. K.J. Morton picked off his 6 pass of the year, Brison Williams made his first interception, and Randal McBride had a great all-around night (3 solos, 2 assists, 1 TFL, & 2 pass breakups) to lead the Eagle defense. Northside now advances to the quarterfinals with a matchup with the Rome Wolves.
