The Eagles began defense of their first state championship in style with a 30-0 shutout victory over the Houston Co. Bears. Northside sprinted to a 27-0 first quarter lead before the heavens opened up with a torrential downpour that lasted until halftime. The Eagles started liberal substitutions in the 2nd quarter and capped off the evening with 3rd & 4th string defenders sealing the shutout victory.

Senior RB Tijuan Green led the Eagles in rushing with 101 yards and 3 TDs on 11 first quarter carries. Backup RB Xavier Hawkins chipped in 88 more yards on 9 carries.
Senior QB Marques Ivory completed 4 of 7 passes in the rain for 39 yards and rushed 4 times for 39 more yards.
Kicker Devon Pike was 3 for 3 on PATs and added a 28 yard field goal in the second quarter.
The Eagles are now 1-0 in 2007 and begin prep for the annual showdown with their cross-town rival.
