Game Recap
The opening run-through sign proved to be an accurate description for their performance that night in their first round playoff game as Northside defeated the Lee Co. Trojans in an efficient and ‘business-like’ manner by a score of 41-0. The Eagles scored on 6 of their 7 possessions as they scored all their points in the first half and were able to empty their bench in the second half.
Tijuan Green led twelve Eagles in the rushing department with 115 yards and 2 touchdowns on only 6 carries. QB Marques Ivory completed 6 of 9 passes for 130 yards and three touchdowns to 3 different receivers to lead
Defensively, the Eagles posted their third shutout of the season even though 2nd, 3rd, & 4th string players were on the field for the third and fourth quarters. Lee Co. was held to only 13 yards on the ground led by sophomore defensive lineman Abry Jones who had 5 solo tackles and one assist and three of the tackles were for a loss. One week after being torched by several deep passes, the secondary bounced back with a strong showing and picked off 3 passes. Charles McKenzie, Mitchell Bell, & Mario Armstrong all had interceptions for the Eagles as they only allowed 8 completions in 20 Lee Co. pass attempts.
Northside now hosts the Brunswick Pirates in a Round II game Friday night at the MAC.
