Game Recap
The Eagles traveled to Macon tonight to take on an old rival, the Central Chargers at Brad Henderson Stadium. The temperature was down a little, but the Eagles spirit was not. Northside took their opening possession and drove 92 yards for the frst score of the game. Byron Hunter plunged in from the 1 yard line and Sean Mayo added the extra point to put the visiting Eagles up 7-0 5 minutes into the contest. The defense forced a Charger punt and the offense was back on the field. The Eagles would score again before the first period closed as Jacobi Rodriquez connected with Nick Cherney for an 11 yard TD strike.
The defense would hold again and the Eagles were back in business, but a fumble gave the ball right back to Central. The stubborn Northside D forced yet another Central punt and put the ball back into the hands of the Eagle offense. This time, the Eagles found the end zone one more time as Jacobi threw a 4 yard TD pass to D'Anthony Harris to put the Eagles up 21-0 at the half.
In the 3rd quarter, Sean Mayo booted a 43 yd FG to make the score 24-0 Northside. The ensuing Charger possession would result in the only exitement of the night for the hometown crowd as Central QB Jacorey Kilcrease found Corey Earls in the end zone to finally put the Chargers on the scoreboard and shoot the LOUD cannon. The extra point was blocked by Sam Robinson and Northside led 24-6 at the 7:07 mark of the 3rd quarter. A very determined Eagle offense would answer this with a TD of their own as Byron Hunter scored his 2nd time on the night on a 9 yd run. After Mayo added his 4th extra point, the score would be 31-6 with 4 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles would add to their total one more time before the quarter ended as Mike Tye scored a 3 yd TD for the final score of the night after Mayo added the extra point to make the score 38-6.
The 4th quarter would have a running clock and neither team could muster any points. The Eagles can now concentrate on their upcoming annual Wartown Classic rival game with the Warner Robins Demons to determine the City Championship and Region Championship.
