Game Recap
The Eagles traveled to Macon to take on the Westside Seminoles in an important sub-region matchup. They started out a little slow, but once the Eagle train started rolling, there was no stopping them on this night. The Eagles won the coin toss and deferred to the 2nd half. The Seminoles picked up 2 1st downs before punting to the visiting Eagles. Northside fumbled the ball right back to Westside on the very first offensive play. The Seminoles tried a 41 yd FG but missed. After swapping punts, the offense of Northside got on the scoreboard on a 26 yd Sean Mayo FG. The score at the end of the 1st quarter would be Eagles 3 - Seminoles 0.
The 2nd quarter was a very different story. At the 9:50 mark, Jacobi Rodriquez delivered a TD pass to Spencer Hill. 3 minutes later, David Everitt scored a 9 yard TD run. 3 1/2 minutes later, Mike Tye scored from 1 yd. Just seconds before the 1st half ended, Sean Mayo added a 42 yd FG much to the delight of the Eagle faithful in attendance. The score at halftime would be Northside 27 - Westside 0.
The 2nd half also belonged to the Eagles. Mike Tye added his 2nd score of the night on a 7 yd TD run on the Eagle's 1st possession of the 2nd half. Before the 3rd quarter had ended, the Eagles added 2 more scores. Byron Hunter found paydirt on a 14 yd run and Spencer Hill picked up a 5 yd TD on a bizzare punt attempt by Westside. The snap to the punter was over his head and instead of opting for a safety by kicking the ball through the back of the end zone, he tried to kick the ball off the ground and that's when Spencer picked it up and scampered into the endzone.
The 4th quarter featured a lot of younger players for both teams. The young Eagles would not be outdone by their older team mates as Tavaris Burnette added the final TD of the night on a 31 yd run. Jan Oliva added the extra point to make the final score Northside 54 - Westside 0. The shutout is the 4th of the year for the stingy Eagle defense. They have allowed only 27 points through the first 7 games.
