Game Recap
The Eagles easily took care of the Bradwell Institute Tigers tonight by the score of 47-0. Action in the first quarter was again fast and furious as the Eagles scored early and often. After an initial 3 and out for the Eagles, the Tigers fumbled the ball back to them on their first snap and gave the ball to Big Blue on the 26 yard line. Ferlando WIlliams topped off the short drive by scoring from the 1 yard line with Sean Mayo adding the first of his 6 extra points to put the Eagles up 7-0 at the 8:49 mark. The stingy Northside defense allowed only 1 first down to the Tigers in the first half, holding them to MINUS 47 yards rushing. They began this run by holding the Tigers to 3 and out on their 2nd possession with the Eagles getting the ball back at the 47 yard line. Rodrick Hayward highlighted this drive with a 32 yard run to set up his own 1 yard touchdown to make it 14-0. The Tigers got their one and only first down of the half on their next possession before being forced to punt once again. On the punt, the snap was bad an the Eagles special teams swarmed the kicker as he went down on the 17 yard line. Rodrick gained 16 yards on the first play and again scored a 1 yard TD on the 2nd of the 2 play drive to go up 21-0 at the 3:38 mark. After kicking off to the Tigers, they fumbled the ball right back to the Boys in Blue on the 17 yard line. This time Rodrick scored on a beautiful 11 yard run as he leaped over a defender at the goal line to put the Eagles up 28-0 with 1:17 still remaining in the iinitial quarter. The Eagles would get 2 more points from a safety to finish off the 1st quarter leading 30-0.
In the 2nd quarter, kicker Sean Mayo nailed a 43 yard field goal right down the middle that would have been good from 53 yards if it had been necessary. With 3:03 remaining in the first half, the Eagles took over on the Tiger 32 yard line and Ferlando Williams promptly connected with D'Anthony Harris on a 32 yard touchdown pass to put the Eagles up 40-0. The score remained 40-0 at the halfway mark as both teams went to their respective locker rooms to rest and discuss their strategies for the 2nd half.
Bradwell received the 2nd half kickoff and was held again to a 3 and out and punted to the Eagles at the 28 yard line. The first string marched downfield again with the biggest play being a Rodrick Hayward 34 yard run to the 4 yard line. Brandon White followed with a 4 yard touchdown to finish off the scoring for the night as the Eagles defense held on to shutout the Tigers 47-0.
The Eagles will be at home again next week to host the winner of the Colquitt Co - Newnan game.
