The Eagles took the opening kickoff and scored on the 2nd play from scrimmage against an outmanned Stockbridge Tiger team tonight. Rodrick Hayward started out the scoring on a 36 yard TD run after only 31 seconds had expired in this contest. Sean Mayo added the first of his 6 extra points of the game. The defense forced the Tigers to punt and the Eagles commited their first turnover of the night on the next play as Stockbridge intercepted a Ferlando Willimas pass. After forcing another punt, the offense again sputtered as they fumbled the ball to turn it over again to the Tigers. The awesome Eagle D again forced a punt and the Eagles again fumbled the ball back to the Tigers. This time the defense could not hold as the Tigers scored their only points of the game on a 20 yard TD pass.
At this point of the game with the score knotted at 7, the boys in Blue started to get the momentum back. Rodrick Hayward scored on a 3 yard run with 2:36 remaining in the first quarter to put the Eagles up for good 14-7.
The second quarter would belong to Northside as they pounded the Stockbridge defense for 5 touchdowns. Hayward found the end zone for the third time early in the second quarter on a 14 yard run. One minute and 15 seconds later, quarterback Ferlando Williams connected with tight end Nick Cherney on a 6 yard TD strike. Less than 2 minutes later, Brandon White scored on an 8 yard run. With the Eagles up now by the score of 35-7, the substitution began. Quarterback Jaustin Rios threw a beautiful 36 yard TD to senior receiver Greg Wallace. Northside would score one more time before the half when sophomore running back Dartez Walker found paydirt on a 65 yard jaunt to the end zone. The score at halftime would read Northside 49 - Stockbridge 7.
The second half would feature a lot of fresh faces as the Eagles took advantage of the situation and allowed a lot of players to take the field. The only score of the second half was a 1 yard TD run by Mike Tye.
The defense played a very strong game and forced 9 punts of which one was blocked.
The crowd would get real excited in the second half as #52 Tommie Gray got some playing time. He was credited with 3 tackles and the crowd loved it!
