October 29, 1983

Game Recap

Game Recap

The Eagles came out sluggish for the Homecoming game against region rival Central, but a "stern" halftime speech from Head Coach Danny Carpenter woke the Eagles up in the second half as they rallied for the 24-14 victory.

Richard Holmes scored 2 rushing TDs (8 & 5), kicked a 28 yard FG and 3 extra points. Sophomore FB Henry Stubbs secured the victory with a 17 yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

The turning point in the game came midway in the third quarter when the Eagle defense stuffed the Chargers on 2 consecutive plays (third & fourth downs) and gave the ball back to the offense. The Eagles drove 42 yards before stalling and Holmes came on to kick his 28 yard FG giving Northside its first lead of the game at 10-7.

The Eagles improved to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the sub-region.
