Proud of OUR EAGLES!!
The Northside Eagles lost a tough contest Saturday night to cap off what was otherwise a GREAT season!! Who can forget the last-second field goal misses at Valdosta and at home vs Lowndes, and the overtime
victory over Peachtree Ridge following a "miracle" long touchdown pass to tie it up late in regulation. This was considered a "rebuilding" year by most observers and so
this squad has FAR surpassed preseason expectations, with the victories over traditional powerhouses Valdosta, Lowndes, and Colquitt, capturing the Region 1-AAAAA title where
it was said the Eagles could not even compete, let alone WIN it. This season was filled with thrills of victory punctuated by only two losses. The Eagles played perhaps their
best game of the season just last week on the big "N" of Newnan, where longtime head coach Conrad Nix earned his 300th career win. The Eagles' first-round playoff win over Chapel Hill
marked the twelfth season in a row with 10 or more victories. For the decade, Northside finishes tied with Camden with the second-most wins in the state at 121, behind only Buford with 137 wins in AA.
Overall, this was one of the best seasons in Northside history. Everyone in the Northside Family should be proud of these players, who showed more heart than most folks can recall
seeing anywhere, and this COACHING STAFF who set up the great success that was the 2009 campaign.
It's GREAT To Be A Northside Eagle!!
Congratulations are in order for the Camden County Wildcats for winning their third state championship of the decade. The Camden program mirrors the Northside journey in that
they had several seasons of high expectations and strong performances, yet fell just short of their championship goal year after year before they finally won their first in 2003.
It was a great matchup, and we are happy to have been a part of it. Thanks for a great game, Wildcats and Eagles!
